During Mad 4 Maths today Primary 1 made numbers from play doh. They also played a 2D shape game. Miss Galloway asked the boys and girls to stand on a square for example. Then colours were introduced along with the shapes e.g. a blue circle. Miss Galloway gave instructions involving the number of sides shapes had and also the number of corners. Finally Primary 1 stood on a shape and Miss Galloway wasn't allowed to look. By asking questions which the boys and girls answered Miss Galloway had to guess which shape they were standing on. Primary 1 are beginning to recognise their shapes and their properties well. On day 2 of the club Primary 1 played a roll and write game. They had to roll a dice and look at the numicon piece the dice showed and decide which number was being represented. Then the boys and girls had to look for the number in a tray of magnetic numbers and place it on the grid. The first number to the top of the grid won.
