We are beginning to look at the seven Elements of Art during our art lessons. Line is the first element we have discussed, looking at all the different types of lines artists use to create their artwork.
We spent some time talking about continuous line drawings, looking at some sketches by Picasso. We used this idea to create some self portraits.
After studying ourselves closely in a mirror, we drew our own portrait. We then used this sketch to create a continuous line portrait. Once we finalised this, we used poster paint to create a background. Choosing either graphite, charcoal or a think pencil, we drew our continuous line portrait onto our background.
We were amazed by what we created, especially as some of us were really nervous about beginning our drawings!
