Good news from the Eco Council!
6th Mar 2017
Our Eco Club have been working hard to renew our Green Flag, with 3 targets -
- Keep our school grounds litter free
- Save energy
- Promote active travel to school
Good news... As a result of our joint efforts and hard work, we have recently celebrated some successes -
- Colin Patton from Mid & East Antrim Council visited us to inform us that we are getting a council bin for outside the school gates which will hopefully help keep our school grounds looking good as during our environmental audit we discovered that most of our litter was being generated from outside the premises. Please remember to make a big effort to use the new bin, which should be arriving soon.
- Our electricity usage for January 2017 has reduced by 115kwh since January 2016! Thanks to everyone who remembered to switch off lights and electrical equipment when not in use. Keep up the good work!
- Our "We Love Active Travel Week" was a great success, we had a big reduction in the number of pupils travelling to school by car. Hopefully this will ease congestion and improve the air quality of our surroundings. While our first Active Travel week is now over, we will have a second one coming up soon. Of course, with the Spring weather hopefully continuing to improve, there is no excuse to not try your best to walk, cycle or scoot to school everyday!
