Literacy Support HY Weekly Bulletin 01.04.20
Hello boys and girls,
I hope you are all in a good routine by now and have got lots of fun things to fill your day with. I'm settling into my routine too which always starts with a walk with my dog, Charlie, every morning before everyone else gets up. It's lovely to see the little new born lambs bouncing around the field in front of my house. A lovely reminder that Spring is actually here!
There are lots of ideas on your teacher's page with fun things to do. Here are some things I'd like you to try at home when you have time.
Primary 2
We had started to match capital letters to lowercase letters before we got off - why not try this at home.
You could make cards with the letters written on them and match them up - try not to stick to the easy ones like S and C! Or why not write your own name and your family members names all in capital letters and make a name chart for your bedroom door?
Keep up the learning with your spellings- they are written into your little red books already. Keep your letters neat and use the words given as a guide to the size they should be. Make sure to get mum or dad to ask you them. Can you make up a silly sentence? Don't forget the capital letter at the start and full stop at the end.
Primary 4
At this time of year we would be looking at types of words to include adverbs. Look out for some in any books you are reading eg. cheerfully; sweetly; happily.
We didn't get a chance to finish our play scripts fully but I know you all loved doing this. Why not have another go at writing one. You may want to choose another playscript based on World War 2 or you might like to write one about something that happened in your house this week. Use the document at the bottom as a reminder as to how we set out a playscript.
Remember, if you would like to re-watch 'Spywatch' so that your whole family can enjoy it too, just Google 'Spywatch episode 1'. Don't tell mum or dad how each episode ends! If you'd like to send me any drawings or work related to this, maybe you could get an adult to email it to me. I'd love to see what you've been getting up to.
I am missing all of you. Keep up the hard work at home and be good.
