Litter picking shock and Eco Committee meeting preparations
6th Nov 2019
Today we went outside and started collecting all the rubbish we could see in the school grounds. It was SHOCKING. We collected 9 bags of rubbish, and came across some items which obviously had been thrown over the fence by irresponsible people. We were disgusted and shocked to see that some people do not seem to care about the world we live in.
We decided to
- organise a weekly litter picking rota, involving all classes, from next week on.
- do a monthly survey of the amount of litter collected in the school grounds, and enter this data in the School zone section of the Eco Flag application form.
- launch a campaign to stop litter in our community.
- Investigate whether we could invite a visitor to talk about litter and landfill issues to all classes.
Also we prepared what we are going to say at our first official Eco Committee meeting on Monday, when we present the findings of our review to all the adults in our committee. We are excited about the meeting!
