Miss Galloway's P5AR Mad 4 Maths group
Primary 5 played a division trumps game today to help them practise their division skills. Then they played a fraction and decimal snap game. At the end of the session Primary 5 watched a video about pictograms and answered some questions. Primary 5 had a good understanding of how to interpret pictograms. On day 2 of Mad 4 Maths Primary 5 played a game called 'Stand and Touch'. In this game Miss Galloway asked mathematical questions involving negative numbers. The objective of the game was to try and 'knock out' the other opponents to be the last person standing to win the game. The children also played a decimal game whereby they were given a Decimal Street board game which had houses on it or a Decimal Row board game which had vans on it. The houses and the vans were split into 10 equal parts. Children played in pairs and turned over a card each which revealed a decimal. Children had to convert the decimal to a fraction and then colour the corresponding number of squares on their board game. Whoever had the most squares coloured by the end of the game won. We'll done to our winners Bobby, Katie Leigh, Brodee and Corey.
