We had a great day out at Ballymena Showgrounds for the annual Owen Daley Cup. Ballykeel put in a strong performance from the very first match, clocking up 4 wins and 2 draws - with no goals conceded - in the group stage to finish top of the group and qualify for the semi finals. Another solid performance against Diamond saw the Ballykeel team progress to the final, where they met St. Colmcille's. After a 0-0 finish, the boys came out the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline in extra time.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on the top prize, we returned to school with the runners up shield - a great achievement in its own right.
Each and every player should hold his head high - the team performed with great spirit and terrific skill and it will hopefully lead to more success - and silverware - this year.
