This week the children have been working on our new spelling routine. It is a big change and we want to give the children time to look at, discuss and understand the words they are learning each night. They worked in groups to ask each other their spellings and then talk about mistakes that were made within the group. It was important that the children are able to locate the patterns being learned each week and they found it helpful listening to each other describe how they learn their words each night. Please take time to talk to your child about their spellings - focus on the letter patterns and ask them how they can split it up to make it easier to learn. Also ask them if they know what the words mean and can they use the word in a sentence. Don't forget - look, say, cover, write & check!
