P7 - Ton Schulten Art
We've been looking at the Elements of Art, and have been focusing on Value and Colour recently. To help us think more about colour and the creation of Tints, Tones and Shade, we spent some time discussing the work of Dutch landscape artist Ton Schulten.
We loved how he had split his landscapes into long sections and used different tones and shades to create a wonderful interpretation of the landscape he was painting.
After studying a photograph of the view from the back of school from the houses, to the Ecos Centre, all the way to the wind turbines at Dunloy, we sketched our own landscapes. Once we had split or fractured our drawings, we decided on a colours we wanted to use. Following the inspiration from Schulten, we added colour to our drawings.
Working hard, we mixed paint, creating our own tones, shades and tints. This allowed us to create a variety of colours, ensuring that no one painting was the same!
During the lesson, Mrs Gregg took a walk around the classroom with the iPad showing a video of our paintings on the whiteboard. We gave each other some feedback about our paintings, and got some tips on how to improve our own.
