In pairs the pupils were given the task to swap the position of the red counters with the green counters. They could not jump over another counter and if they could do it in under 18 moves they were considered excellent. They also had to work out a way of recording their moves so that it could be repeated or improved upon. The problem shoving skills they used were to reason logically, look for a pattern and try and adjust.
