P7SG - Nettle Soup
As you know, we've been reading Under the Hawthorn Tree this term. The children in the story embark on a brave journey across Ireland to find the Aunts. In order to fend for themselves during this time, they had to forage for food. One of the plants they ate was Nettle.
Mrs Gregg brought in some foraged plants that are edible, and we made nettle soup. She also had some nettle tea with her, and we tried it too. We mostly thought that the soup was ok, but we weren't really sure about the tea!
Remember to take care if you decide to forage for some food yourself! Make sure you have a guide to help you identify the edible plants, making sure they are well washed before you eat them.
