Volcanic Eruptions in P5
P5AR have been learning about volcanoes as part of their World Around Us theme "Blowing Your Top". We finished the unit by making our own " active" volcanoes.
" We made volcanoes using crunched up newspaper and mod-roc", says Denna McCandless. "We left a crater at the top big enough for a fizzy bottle to be put inside. Then we painted our volcanoes."
The next step was to make our volcanoes erupt, using a chemical reaction between CO2 and a certain type of sweets. Please click on the video to see Professor M. Agnew, an expert vulcanologist from Ballykeel Science University, demonstrate and explain how this experiment works!
